This initiative, announced on Wednesday, aims to provide a secure location for future presidents and visiting foreign dignitaries, with the club covering construction costs as a "gift" to the American public.
Details of the Proposal
Trump described the location as being only two minutes away from the airport, allowing for easy access. He envisions it as a weekend retreat similar to Camp David, stating:
“"It's only about two minutes away from the airport … and they could spend the weekend there, like a retreat, like a sort of Camp David retreat."
If realized, this project would significantly contrast with the rustic nature of Camp David, which was established during the Great Depression as a retreat for federal employees. The Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach would serve as the new site, which is known for its luxurious amenities and vibrant social scene.
