President Donald Trump has asked Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign from her position as US ambassador to Greece amid allegations of misconduct. The announcement was made by White House press secretary Katie Zacharia during a media briefing earlier this week.

Allegations Against Guilfoyle

Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host, faced scrutiny after reports emerged that she allegedly requested a Trump donor to pay her credit card bill in exchange for access to the administration. Trump expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation, stating, "I didn't like what I read," despite acknowledging that she had done a good job.

In a statement, Guilfoyle vowed to defend herself against the "false" claims, calling her ambassadorship the "honour of a lifetime." She stated, "I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity," and emphasized that she would not let false accusations tarnish her decades of public service.

Context of the Resignation

Zacharia confirmed that Guilfoyle had been asked to resign but did not provide further details. She praised Guilfoyle as a "wonderful asset to the team" and wished her well. Guilfoyle, 57, was nominated as envoy to Athens in December 2024, shortly before Trump returned to the White House.
