Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, who heads the high-powered task force on exam reforms, stated on Tuesday that the issue of question paper leaks can be addressed with a "systematic" approach and advocated the use of technology to tackle the problem. This statement was made during the Bloomberg New Economy Forum 2026.
Context
Nilekani leads the task force established in July following the leak of the Neet-UG question paper in May, which resulted in the cancellation of the medical entrance exam and a subsequent re-test. This incident triggered weeks of student protests across the country, ultimately leading to the resignation of the then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Developments
During his address, Nilekani emphasized that the issue of exam paper leaks is a "solvable" problem. He remarked:
“"If you look at it systematically and go to root causes of why it's happening and use technology to solve it... they are solvable issues."
He further noted that the task force aims to address these systemic issues, with the Prime Minister showing keen interest in implementing their suggestions.
