India's Shyam Metalics and Energy announced on October 2, 2026, that it has signed a deal with the Maharashtra government to invest 500 billion rupees (approximately $5.19 billion) in a new steel plant. This initiative marks a significant expansion for the company, which has traditionally focused on its stronghold in eastern India.
Project Details
The planned facility will be a greenfield steel complex located in Chandrapur, situated in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. The steel plant is expected to have a production capacity of 9 million metric tonnes per year.
