Malik, from the Tanta area of Doda district, was arrested by the NIA on March 1, 2021. He is charged with aiding terrorists Haroon Abbas Wani and Tahir Ahmed Bhat from June 2019 until Wani's death in an encounter on January 15, 2020. His bail application argued that he has been in jail for five years and that a speedy trial is his fundamental right.
