Two sold-out shows that Kanye West, now known as Ye, were scheduled to perform in Russia have been cancelled, as confirmed by the organisers. The concerts were set to take place at the Gazprom Arena in St Petersburg on October 10 and 11.
Cancellation Announcement
In a post shared on the messaging app Telegram on Thursday, the organiser Say Agency stated:
“"Friends, it is with sincere regret that we inform you that the Ye concerts in St Petersburg on the scheduled dates will not be able to take place."
The agency expressed gratitude to supporters and mentioned that they would provide an official statement regarding future plans soon. Ticket refunds will be available starting October 12, with further details on the refund process to follow.
Background and Controversy
The status of the shows had been uncertain for weeks. Initially, Gazprom Arena promoted the concerts enthusiastically, referring to Ye as "the most influential musical artist of our time." However, in August, after the shows sold out, the arena announced it had not signed an agreement to lease the venue to the concert promoters, stating it was "not and is not" responsible for the booking.
