Reform MP Robert Jenrick defended the party against allegations of hosting extremists, asserting that Nigel Farage has likely done more than anyone to combat racism and the far right. This defense follows an undercover investigation by ITV Exposure, which revealed a senior Reform official warning Farage about protecting a mayoral candidate accused of making racist comments against former Labour deputy prime minister David Lammy.
Undercover Investigation Findings
The investigation showcased various Reform councillors and election candidates making threats of extreme violence and expressing racist, Islamophobic, and misogynistic views. In the latest footage, a senior Reform official cautioned Farage about his support for a high-profile mayoral candidate accused of racist remarks.
Sarah Pochin, one of two female MPs for Reform, expressed frustration over the party's treatment of women, stating that other officials are "so fucking chauvinistic" and tend to exclude women.
Jenrick's Defense on BBC Radio 4
On the BBC Radio 4 Today programme, Jenrick, who serves as the party’s Treasury spokesperson and MP for Newark, stated:
“"(Farage) is the most heavily scrutinised figure in British politics, and he’s someone who’s probably done more than almost anybody else to stand against racism and the far right, and to protect our politics from that over the course of my lifetime."
