The Bihar government has advised people to avoid consuming unknown fish coming into the state with floodwaters from Nepal. This advisory was issued after reports of some individuals falling ill after consuming these fish. The advisory has been released by the Department of Dairy, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Resources.
Details of the Advisory
According to the department, fish that flow in from ponds, rivers, lakes, and reservoirs during floods can spread over large areas and may remain in contact with open drains, dead animals, and decaying matter for extended periods. This increases the risk of bacterial, viral, and fungal infections.
