Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan has received an unsigned threat note, as reported by his brother-in-law and LJP (Ram Vilas) Jamui MP Arun Bharti. The note, which was sent to the ministry, contained two mobile numbers and allegedly included a direct threat to Paswan’s life.
Details of the Threat
According to a letter from Paswan’s Additional Private Secretary Alok Kumar Singh to the Union Home Secretary on Tuesday, the communication stated:
““You will be killed shortly by hardcore terrorists.”
Singh described the message as a matter of "grave concern" and expressed "serious apprehensions" regarding the minister’s safety and security.
Current Security Measures
Paswan is currently under Z-category security cover provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs. In light of the threat, the minister’s office has requested an urgent and thorough investigation into the origin, authenticity, and circumstances surrounding the communication. They have also asked for a review and possible augmentation of Paswan’s security arrangements, citing the reported threat perception and his upcoming public engagements.
