The AI era has transformed the pace at which startups can grow, leading some to achieve high annual recurring revenue (ARR) numbers, only to face significant challenges shortly thereafter. At this year’s TechCrunch Disrupt, industry leaders Luke Arno from Lovable, Ben Broca of the AI platform Polsia, and Tomasz Tunguz from Theory Ventures shared insights on how founders can set their companies up for success in the critical first 90 days.
Key Insights from Industry Leaders
Ben Broca, whose company Polsia employs AI agents to operate with minimal human oversight, emphasized the difficulty of achieving product-market fit in a landscape where products can be easily replicated. He stated:
“"Product-market fit is one of the hardest things to find right now."
In response, Luke Arno highlighted the importance of developing durable go-to-market strategies that can be reliably repeated. He advised:
“"The most critical thing for founders or earlier-stage companies to do is develop learning density or pattern recognition for where your customers are. Don’t rush to build out a top-down go-to-market motion if you’re not there yet."
The First 90 Days
During the initial 90 days post-launch of a commercial product, Arno cautioned against interpreting early revenue as a sign of readiness to scale. He explained that a startup should only consider expanding its sales team after identifying successful use cases that can attract new customers consistently.
