A Missouri House race has been shaken by the arrest of Republican candidate Thomas Ross on Wednesday, as prosecutors accuse him of attempting to frame his primary opponent, Louise Secker, for cocaine possession.
Allegations Against Ross
In June, Ross allegedly provided his former campaign manager, identified in court documents as CS, with a bag containing cocaine and Adderall. The two reportedly devised a plan for the former manager to hide the drugs in Secker’s purse or vehicle.
On June 21, prosecutors stated that Ross inquired about the status of the scheme. In a text message to his staffer, he asked, "Taking it no luck with the substance of it all?" Authorities claim that "substance" was a euphemism for the narcotics.
The former manager responded, stating, "I am actually creeping down to the car show right now and seeing if I can see your car. I have had it on me for a couple days in order to be able to take full advantage of any opportunity that arises. I thought I had it at the forum Walter went to, but never got close [and] car was locked."
