A play based on the trial of Gisèle Pelicot, who was drugged and raped, will be performed at London County Hall for one night only this November. The four-hour production, titled The Pelicot Trial: Tribute to Gisèle Pelicot, has been showcased globally, including in New York City and Avignon, where the trial occurred.
Performance Details
The performance is set to take place at the same venue that hosts Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution. Nadia Fall, artistic director and co-chief executive of the Young Vic, expressed her anticipation for the event, stating:
“"I saw it in French originally – all four hours of it. It was jaw-dropping, harrowing, really emotional."
Fall emphasized the unique nature of the production, noting that it is a long-form, testimonial piece. She expects tickets to sell out quickly, highlighting the involvement of well-known actors:
“"Because it’s one night only, what we are able to do is ring our best actors, people you will know ‘off the telly’ as well."
The full cast will be announced before tickets go on sale in the coming weeks. Fall mentioned that the ensemble rehearses together just once, allowing for a diverse group of actors to participate in this short commitment. She anticipates a total of 27 actors in the production.
