This change comes as part of a broader reorganization within the police department, which also sees Sujit Kumar taking over as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Valley, while Tejinder Singh will serve as IGP for Jammu.

  • M K Sinha: Appointed as the new intelligence chief and Additional Director General (ADG) of the J&K Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Sinha is a 1996-batch IPS officer and previously held the position of ADG Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Nitish Kumar: Transitioned to the role of Additional Director General of Armed Police.
  • Sujit Kumar: A 2007-batch IPS officer, he replaces V K Birdi as IGP for Kashmir, who has been sent on central deputation. Kumar has previously served as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for Central Kashmir and DIG, CID.
  • Tejinder Singh: Formerly IG CID, he has been appointed as IGP for Jammu, replacing Bhim Sen Tuti, who has been assigned to the Inspector General (HQ) position.
