Delivery Hero’s board has approved Uber’s $15 billion takeover offer and has recommended that shareholders endorse the deal. This acquisition would create one of the largest on-demand food delivery platforms globally.
Board Approval
After a thorough review, Delivery Hero’s supervisory and management boards concluded that the offer was in the best interests of the company, its shareholders, employees, and other stakeholders. They determined that the price was “fair and adequate” and noted that the deal has the “potential to accelerate product innovation.”
Implications of the Deal
If the acquisition is approved, it would effectively double Uber’s global footprint, positioning its delivery platform among the largest in the world outside of China. This move could enhance Uber's competitive stance against rivals such as DoorDash and Just Eat Takeaway.
