The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) aims to transform the political landscape in India, according to spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka. In an interview with Srirupa Goswami from the Indian Express, Ranka emphasized that the CJP's political ambitions focus on changing how politics is conducted in the country.
Political Discourse Shift
Ranka stated, "We definitely do have political ambitions when it means, you know, to transform the way politics is happening in the country right now." He responded to comments made by Sonam Wangchuk, a Ladakhi activist, who suggested that CJP leaders harbor political ambitions. Ranka clarified, "We have been very clear that we are fighting to change the politics of this country. We don’t want politics to operate the way it has been operating all this while."
Addressing Core Issues
Ranka highlighted the neglect of core issues in Indian politics, questioning, "When was the last time there was a discussion in the Parliament about paper leaks?" He noted that such discussions were absent before the CJP movement began. Wangchuk, a prominent figure in the CJP-led protests at Jantar Mantar, has been vocal about issues like education and employment, even participating in a hunger strike to amplify the group's demands.
