With the economy growing at a robust 7.8% year-on-year in the April-June quarter, the BJP on Tuesday praised the nation’s strong economic management and stable governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This growth comes despite challenges posed by the West Asia conflict and high energy prices.

BJP's Response to Rahul Gandhi

Former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad stated that the GDP growth reflects effective economic management in the face of global challenges. He emphasized that India, under PM Modi’s leadership, is transitioning from the "Fragile Five" economy of the UPA era to becoming a major world economy.

Prasad demanded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi apologize for labeling the Indian economy as "dead" and for claiming that a significant economic tsunami was imminent. He remarked,

"Now, a growth rate of 7.8% is in front of you. Do you have some shame?"
