Thinking Machines, the AI lab founded early last year by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, is in discussions to raise $1 billion at a valuation of at least $40 billion, according to a report by The Information on Thursday. Existing backer Accel is reportedly in talks to lead this fundraising effort.
Current Valuation Context
If completed, this new funding round would value Thinking Machines below the $50 billion valuation that the company sought to secure late last year. The startup's annual revenue run rate is reported to be over $100 million, which indicates an extraordinarily high revenue multiple at the proposed $40 billion valuation.
